Imago Dei Church is led by a leadership team that is made up of three teams. Each team works in cooperation with the others and with the authority of the whole. Our staff works within the context of their respective teams to serve the church.
Formation Team
The formation team exists to discern the spiritual health of the congregation and to lead us into the next steps of being formed in the image of God. Therefore they are responsible for what is taught throughout the church, the spiritual health of other leaders in the church and discerning what God is doing in our midst.

Ministry Directors
The ministry directors are the “in the trenches” people who lead teams of volunteers to accomplish the mission of the church. In many ways, they function as a “think tank,” dreaming up new ministries and new ways to do ministry, as well as equipping our church to do effective ministry in our city.

Leadership Team Covenant
Throughout history the term “covenant” has been used to describe a commitment made to other people for the big things in life. We believe that the work of leading a church is incredibly important; therefore, our leadership team has made this covenant with each other and with the Imago community.
The statements below do not suggest that we live perfect lives or that we have “already arrived”. Rather, these ideals are pointing towards the trajectory of our lives. This covenant represents what it means to be a leader at Imago Dei Church.
Commitment to Directives
As the leaders of Imago Dei Church, we commit ourselves to increasingly live our lives by the directives:
- Mindfulness: We look for how everything relates to God.
- Process: We commit to bringing our own transforming selves to leadership.
- Mission: We give our time, money & talents to furthering the mission of bringing God’s kingdom to earth as it is in heaven, both through the work of Imago Dei and through other efforts in our city, country and world.
- Community: We commit to practicing hospitality, especially towards new people.
- Orthodoxy: We are in agreement with the Apostle’s Creed.
Commitment to the Body
As the leaders of Imago Dei Church, we commit ourselves to the sober task of serving the body of Imago Dei Church:
- We commit to pray regularly for the body, both as a team and on our own.
- We commit to being peacemakers in our congregation and community, encouraging those who have conflicts with others to make peace.
- We commit to doing our best to discern the will of God for our church, putting our opinions, desires and conveniences second to the work and guidance of the Spirit in our midst.
- We commit to shepherding the congregation in a spirit of patience, grace and love.
Commitment to Character
As the leaders of Imago Dei Church, we commit ourselves to the ongoing spiritual formation of our own character:
- We strive for humility. We do not grasp for leadership as a status symbol but understand it as a role of servitude in the body.
- We practice financial and sexual integrity.
- We practice verbal integrity – choosing to refrain from gossip in our church.
- We strive for a healthy balance between our jobs, the church and leading our own families in a godly manner.
Commitment to the Leadership Team
As the leaders of Imago Dei Church, we recognize that we work in the context of a team of men and women with various experiences, backgrounds, opinions and ideas. And while we value the diversity of thought, we also recognize the opportunity for division. Therefore, we commit ourselves to the leadership team in these ways:
- We commit to public support of the team. When decisions have been made, we will stand behind the decision, even if we didn’t get our way.
- We commit to being on time, shutting off distractions and giving our best efforts to the team by speaking up and fully engaging in the issues at hand.
- We commit to being proactive in discerning our ability to faithfully serve – to choose to leave before failure.
- We are committed to confronting in love and to receiving correction humbly and thoughtfully.
- Especially when we disagree, we will strive to treat each other with dignity, grace and gentleness.
