Today, with more snow expected, high winds, and sub-zero temperatures, it is estimated that about 100 people will be seeking some kind of shelter in Peoria because they have no home.
That’s easy for me to forget when I get into my car while it’s still in the garage and then I park in a parking deck. It’s easy for me to forget that not everyone can just set a thermostat to whatever temperature feels comfortable and eat whatever they feel like eating.
One of our focuses as we attempt to reach out to the “least of these,” is to meet the needs of those who are least fortunate: the homeless.
In reaction to the extreme cold, our team is organizing a clothing drive for the homeless. Here are some of the items they are looking for:
- Hats
- Scarves
- Gloves
- Coats
- Men’s Socks
All items can be brought to church on Sunday or dropped off at the church office next week during office hours.
Grace & Peace.
