Serve

Serving is a great way to get to know people in the Imago community. As you get involved, you’ll discover more and more ways to serve, but here are a few to get you started. And if you have any questions, simply contact us.

BREAKFAST POTLUCK FOR THE HOMELESS
Every Sunday morning from 7-9 AM we serve a hot breakfast for those who are homeless or just in need of a meal. People from our community are building relationships with those in need and also serving them by providing clean clothes, warm jackets and a listening ear. It’s a little bit of chaos, but a lot of joy to serve 50 to 60 people out of our small office space on Main Street every week. If you would like to get involved, just drop us a note.

RIVERWEST
In the fall of 2008, South Side Mission opened a satellite office in the Riverwest housing development. We are partnering with them to serve the families in the Riverwest community. You can be a part of the work that is happening there by donating food on Sundays, volunteering at a Riverwest event, or hanging out at a Thursday Family Night (every Thursday from 6:30-8:30 PM). Contact us if you want to know more about serving in Riverwest.

MEALS FOR RIVERWEST
Are you interested in serving at RiverWest, but can’t come on Thursday nights? We are looking for groups of people or small groups who are willing to plan, prepare and deliver a meal for our Thursday evening family nights. Meals should feed 100 people consisting of a main dish, side dish and dessert. Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think when split amongst a group of people, and we’ll help you with ideas. Contact us to get involved.

ADOPT-A-BLOCK
Join us at the South Side Mission for a visit to our adopted blocks. We meet at the South Side Mission (1127 S Laramie St, Peoria) on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 9:45 AM and then go out on the block from 10:00 AM to Noon. We go out to clean up trash, pass out baked goods, and travel door to door to meet with the people who live in the neighborhood. Most of the people in our neighborhood are senior citizens. We offer to pray with them and assist them with any needs they may have. We also like to give out baked goods from time to time- so if you’d like to donate some treats just let us know. Contact us to find out more.

Neat Freak
We could use a neat freak (or two) over at the Imago office keep things tidy. Talk to Charlie for details.

Set Up & Tear Down Crew
Help out with setting up and tearing down equipment for Sunday gatherings. You don’t need to know anything about sound equipment; we’ll show you the ropes.

Coffee Central
Make the coffee, fill the coffee, refill the coffee – it’s not brain surgery, but we could use a couple more people. Show up at 8:30 AM and you’re done by 11:30 AM. Contact kevinsletten@gmail.com to get involved.
